This treatment is usually done in our London surgery, as it's not economical to travel abroad for one dental implant. However some patients may decide to combine their dental treatment with a holiday or city break in Budapest, they are very welcome in our Budapest clinic.
1. Initial consultation & treatment plan
During the consultation, which takes about 1 hour, our dentist will thoroughly examine your general oral health, the quality and quantity of your jaw bone. Our dentist will take an X-ray and/or CT scan and discuss your options for replacing the missing teeth. A written treatment plan will be provided.
The comprehensive treatment plan will include all procedures with prices and durations for every stage of the treatment. You'll know the prices both in London and Budapest, so you can decide where you would like to get certain stages of the treatment.
No hidden costs, you'll know exactly what to expect!
2. The treatment
Once you've accepted the treatment plan, the implant surgery can start. These are the common stages of the procedure:
- Tooth extraction
- Bone grafting / sinus lift - if needed
- Implant placement
- Healing screws
- Crown fitting
If you want to replace a damaged / decayed tooth with a dental implant, the first step is the removal of the existing tooth. This is a simple procedure and is usually done in our London surgery.
After the extraction you'll need about 3-4 months for your bone to heal and be ready for the implant.
Bone grafting & sinus lift
If during the initial consultation our dentist finds that the quality or quantity of your bone is not ideal for dental implants, it may be possible to do a bone grafting or a sinus lift to ensure the implant will have sufficient bone to integrate with. Often the implant is placed at the same time and the bone grafting (if needed)
There is a 3-4-9 month healing period after this procedure, since your bone needs to inregrate with the implant.
Once your teeth are removed and your jaw bone is in good condition, our oral surgeon will place the implant.
After the implant placement, you'll need to wait 3-4-9 months for your bone to heal and be ready for the final step - the crown. This is called the healing period.
We don't do same day dental implants, as their failure rate is considerably higher than traditional dental implants.
After the implant has integrated firmly with your bone, the dentists will fit the abutment and crown on the implant and the tooth replacement procedure is finally finished.
3. What you can do
A successful dental implant procedure will reqiure that not only the dentists, but you, the patient, follow the treatment plan and the dentists' advice.
It is very important that during the healing period you excercise proper oral hygiene and follow the dentist's advice, otherwise the integration of the implant and the bone might fail.
